The Abu Dhabi Chamber of Commerce & Industry (ADCCI) has in the course of the year 2011 made a variety of achievements, carried out a number of activities and events and launched important initiatives for both streamlining the services being rendered to its members and contributing to the enhancement of Abu Dhabi’s competitiveness and the emirate’s position as a key investment destination in the region.
“The Chamber’s activity last year went up markedly as the number of events organized by the ADCCI reached 48 ones and that of delegations received from different countries of the world hit 50 missions,” HE Mohamed Helal Al Muhairi, ADCCI Director General, said in a speech on the Chamber’s achievements made during the year 2011, stressing that such activities do help promote the Emirate of Abu Dhabi as an important regional business and investment hub. Q1: What are the most prominent achievements made by the Abu Dhabi Chamber during 2011?
Answer 1: “A series of achievements was made during 2011 as the foregoing year was noted for the Chamber’s rolling out of several initiatives and projects that found their way to execution. At the fore of such achievements were upgrading the Members Services’ Centre and bringing the number of organizations and agencies providing their services to the general public up to 28 official entities, organizations and departments. Moreover, the number of miscellaneous activities staged by the Chamber came to 48 ones, including 32 conferences and 16 professional symposia, workshops and awareness seminars which aimed in their entirety at assisting the Abu Dhabi-based companies and businesses in developing their business and activity and in achieving the best results that would boost the private sector’s contribution to the all-out economic development in the emirate. Similarly, 50 business and economic delegations were received from different countries of the world; and the Chamber took part in Abu Dhabi’s trade missions visiting a number of friendly countries.”
Q2: How far do Chamber members make use of the Members Services’ Centre? What are the organizations providing their services via the Centre? And how many users benefited from the Centre’s services in 2011?      
Answer 2: “The number of users benefiting from the ADCCI-based Members Services’ Centre rose to 240,000 people late in 2011 compared to 210,000 ones in 2010 at a 15% increase. This was thanks to new superior services introduced by the ADCCI for purposes of facilitating and simplifying procedures, the obtainment of trade licences and a number of other services, in addition to the provision by a number of public and private entities and organizations of their comprehensive, easy services at a record time, within a highly professional atmosphere and environment and via a one-stop shop coupled with integrated, diverse services to customers and users availing themselves of licensing services, saving their time and effort. More than 28 entities, including departments, organizations and companies are rendering their services through the Members Services’ Centre. These are: the Abu Dhabi Chamber of Commerce & Industry (ADCCI), the Department of Economic Development, the Notary Public-Judicial Department, the Abu Dhabi Distribution Company, Emirates Telecommunications Company “Etisalat,” Emirates Integrated Telecommunications Company “Du,” Directorate General for Foreigners’ Affairs & Residence in Abu Dhabi, the Emirates E-portal, the Emirates Identity Authority, Emirates Post, Etihad Airways, Abu Dhabi National Bank, the National Health Insurance Company, the Ministry of Labour, the Abu Dhabi Businesswomen Council, Infinity Services Establishment, the Abu Dhabi Food Control Authority, the General Customs Department, the Department of Finance, the Environmental Authority, the Abu Dhabi Securities Market, the Ministry of Economy, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Health Authority, the Al Hilal Takaful Company, the Department of Municipal Affairs, Vehicles and Drivers Licences Department, the Abu Dhabi Police General Headquarters, the Abu Dhabi Commercial Properties and Injazat Services Co.
